First Aid & CPR Training

Commissionaires Great Lakes offers First Aid and CPR Training, providing life skills for every member of your organization, from staff members and executives to volunteers. We are an authorized provider of St. John Ambulance first aid programs and we offer a full range of first aid training taught by our qualified instructors. Students will come away from this training with the specific knowledge required to deal with potential emergency scenarios such as: cardiovascular events, severe bleeding, choking and more. Organizations will satisfy government requirements on first aid training and become better equipped to deal with first aid situations.
Why You Should Take This Course
Your employees can receive first aid training to a standard recognized worldwide and your organization can meet legislated requirements under Regulation 1101 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario. Regulation 1101 requires all employers to ensure that first aid boxes and stations are in the charge of workers who hold valid first aid certificates issued by a training agency that is recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
Employees will acquire new skills and gain crucial knowledge to help improve your organization’s ability to deal with emergency incidents and first aid situations.

Emergency & Standard Level First Aid Course Content
The following modules are included in both the Emergency & Standard Level First Aid courses:
- Emergency scene management;
- Shock, unconsciousness and fainting;
- Choking (adult);
- Cardiovascular emergencies and one-rescuer CPR (adult casualty);
- Severe bleeding.
Additional Elective Modules
The following elective modules may be added to complement the Emergency & Standard Level First Aid courses above. Our qualified instructors will work with you to select the right elective courses to custom build the right course for you, your employees and your specific work environment.
- Medical conditions (diabetes, convulsions, asthma, allergies);
- Child resuscitation;

Course Duration
Standard Level First Aid: Four hours to cover mandatory modules listed above (1-5) plus seven and a half hours of elective modules from list above (A-R) for a total of 11.5 hours*.
Emergency Level First Aid: Four hours to cover mandatory modules listed above (1-5) plus one and a half hours of elective modules from list of above (A-R) for a total of 5.5 hours*.
*The length of St. John Ambulance courses may vary depending on modules selected and provincial or territorial regulations.
