Workplace Violence And Harassment Legislation

The Ontario provincial legislation, Bill 168, places significant new safety responsibilities on the employer to protect employees from workplace violence and harassment. The legislation requires employers to develop new policies and procedures relating to the prevention, response, investigation and reporting of incidents of workplace violence and harassment, which differs from other legislative responsibilities. Employers are also required to complete a risk assessment of hazards that may arise from domestic issues, which may carry over into the workplace.

As of June 15, 2010 your workplace violence program must be in place to ensure you avoid penalties, which may be issued by a Ministry of Labour inspection, investigation or inquiry.

Commissionaires Great Lakes’ consulting program can help your organization achieve this step toward compliance.
