Commissionaires Support to Summits 2010 G8 – G20 Summits: Letter of Appreciation

The G8 and G20 Summits in June 2010 were an outstanding security success. Nearly 20,000 Royal Canadian Mounted Police and partner security personnel were directly involved in both the G8 and the G20 Summits. The successes of both Summits were two-fold: Not only did we realize our mandate of creating a safe and secure Summit environment for world leaders, delegates and the citizens of Canada, we also achieved a level of interoperability that superbly assisted operations.

I would like to personally thank you for the work of your fine team of commissionaires who so ably supported the Integrated Security Unit at diverse sites in the lead up to and conduct of the G8 and G20 Summits. The exceptional efforts and cheerful support of all your members significantly assisted the Integrated Security Unit in meeting its goals. Consistently, the commissionaires assigned to my headquarters and the various out stations provided diligent and effective service, thus greatly easing our task.

Please accept my sincere thanks and appreciation for a job well done by Commissionaires. I am extremely proud if the Integrated Security Unit’s success and we could not have achieved what we did without you and fine group of men of women. Please pass on my sincere thanks to all members of Commissionaires for a fine job well done.
